Ear cuffs are the easiest way to get the look of a curated, stacked ear without committing to a single new piercing. They sit on the outer edge of the ear, hold their place through gentle pressure, and can be moved, swapped or layered whenever you like.
If you've never worn one, the first try can feel a little awkward. Here's how to get it right.
How to put on an ear cuff
- Find the thinnest part of your ear. This is usually the middle of the outer rim, between the top of the ear and the lobe. It's where the cuff slides on most easily.
- Slide it on sideways. Hold the cuff by its back, place the opening against the rim and gently slide it onto the ear. Never force it open.
- Move it into place. Once it's on, slide it up or down to where you want it to sit. Higher on the ear feels bolder; closer to the lobe feels softer.
- Check the fit. It should feel secure but never pinch. If your cuff is adjustable, press it very gently to tighten or loosen. Some sculptural designs aren't adjustable, so check the product details first.
Where to wear it
- Upper ear (helix): the classic placement for a statement cuff.
- Middle of the ear: the most comfortable spot for all-day wear.
- Near the lobe: perfect for building a stack with your everyday studs.
How to style it
Let one piece do the talking. A bold cuff like the Glam Ear Cuff or the sculptural Odara Ear Cuff is enough on its own, especially with your hair pulled back.
Build a stack. Pair a pavé cuff with a polished one for contrast. Our Harmony and Heaven ear cuff sets are designed to be worn together.
Mix your metals. Gold and silver tones together feel modern and intentional, not mismatched.
Caring for your ear cuff
Our pieces are 18k gold or white rhodium plated, so treat them gently. Remove your cuff before showering, swimming, exercising or sleeping, keep it away from perfume and lotions, and store it separately so it stays scratch-free.
Quick answers
Do ear cuffs hurt?
A well-fitted cuff shouldn't. If you feel pressure, move it to a thinner part of the ear or loosen it slightly.
Will it fall off?
Not when it's positioned correctly. Take a moment to check the fit before you head out.
Do I need a piercing for an ear climber?
Most ear climbers need one standard lobe piercing. Some, like the Luna Pearl Ear Climber, are designed to sit on the ear without one.
